Graffiti is dead!, Canvas from a few years back

 Untitled Seen an image from an old mag that had a feature about graffiti in London, I liked the image in the mag so used it in this painting..

 some throw up styled letters on a bansky canvas i received as a gift.

 an abstract type picture, the background reminded me of cans of spray paint, so ive got an idea of painting as many cans from differnt paint companys from all parts of the world.

Rek one, A.A.D.. (art after dark)

Just a quick update, I'll post some new work soon..Just a few old skool pieces that was in a BBC documentary we did back in 1993. I cant remember why we chose the word Rek as a piece, At the time, Like a lot of other writers, We where changing and using other tags a lot back then, due to BTP using data on tags to catch writers out.

Also back in them days, a lot of writers used to paint random words, as a lot of walls where done all together, like someone was on outline duty's, someone else on fill and someone on background, and characters etc, it was quicker too, also we didn't have the fat caps that you get today,  you had to use the stock caps on the paint, also we would steal caps from other aerosol products from DIY stores, Halfords and other shops, .. etc

 

 Man I must laugh at how bad this character was, totally crap, lol

 Maoh, (mao) Eaze,(skroe) silvas, side facing (3D) blocking was a must back then, late 80's

 unfinished A.A.D, done on one of the coldest days ever, paint was freezing up, and hands where completely useless, every writer as been in the same situation, when your hands become so cold you cant press the cap..lol

Coma, trackside silva/throw up back in 88, Spectra chrome and red oxcide, This was done by my uncle, who was my mentor I guess, Him and Fina64/Finaoutline (twice) started painting in 84, basically I seen their pieces, tags all around the estate we lived in, I would catch their new stuff on my way to school, used to love seeing new walls thats where fresh from the night before.. This was before I ever seen subway art.
I remember this was a daytime wall, as he used to rack so much paint from halfords in town with a goose jacket on, often going back for second helpings, then it was only a short walk to the tracks to paint..
Though it was on the mainline to London, and very close to Cardiff Central Station, the trains ran real slow right by here, coming in and out of the city.. it was a good spot not too close to the track that you would miss it, or to far away..he used to paint all his pieces big and fat, perfect for tracksides.. This wasn't as big compared to his larger throwups/ chromies or dubs as some writers call them, due to the spot being a little closer to the tracks trains..
If a spot was a bit further back from the lines, it was nothing for him to fill the whole inside of a bridge, making us use ladders to paint above him..
These where great days, when you're young and carefree, Graffiti was more of a full time activity and obsession back then..
A lot of graffiti back then wasn't photographed by us, not like today where everything is ducumented by writers or people that like graff with cameras on phones, geez the phones back then where huge brick like, and extremely expensive, we never thought that in 20-25+ years in the future there would be the internet with blogs, websites etc.
The flicks we did take or where shot by other people where lost over time or where took in raids by BTP we never seen them flicks after the court cases, I'm told there's a vault or something where bties keep  albums/blackbooks etc from writers,imagine all the flicks they have..

 Looking real funky, Cant go wrong with Bode, esp when writers add there own personal twists on the characters, That's what its all about putting your own flavour on what your painting, be it a Character, or Letterform, straight letter to interlocking wildstyle lettering, its just adding your own twist on things..

Me and P.Shop and many other software programs i just cant manage to pick it all up, My attention span including my short term memorys and dyslexia makes trying to learn even simple programs ends up confusing me, simple things become appear difficult.My memorys fades away its difficult to explain...

Added Trap straight letter to Yard shot flick, Its dedicated to the old skool writers that the Vandal squad would try to Trap, in yard. Just at the time the VS where middle aged donught eating Squad that where tripping to get young agile, fit street wise writers on busts, From Imagination so not sure if this is the correct setting at the time, in the Yards in NYC.
