I'll be here all day explaining whats what, and explaining blood lines etc..
Because of the tabloid press making them sound the perfect breed for hard-men, gangster wannabes, dealers etc..
Backstreet breeders popped up not knowing shit about the breed, genetics, and basically spoiling whats took over 150-200 years of selective breeding by breeders from the UK, Ireland and the States. Just trying to make a buck from this breed as a fashion statement, causing all kinds of problems by mixing neo- mastiff blood to increase the size and appearance, and other breeds and blood lines to gain aggression.
Also by adding neo-mastiff blood to the breed for "fashionable" Blue noses etc..
THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER WAS BRED TO BE HANDLED IN EXTREME SITUATIONS BY HUMANS, so any excuse making for poor or bad temperament in the APBT is not acceptable for any reason, all APBT’s with bad temperaments should be put down PERIOD.
Unfortunately over the last 15 years or so, breeders with no actual knowledge have taken the pit bull to height and weight limits that are not acceptable in the bull dog world, meaning they are not real pure bred American Pit Bull Terriers of the standard they were meant to be. In fact it is my opinion that these hugely over done Hybrid (to what I’m not sure, if you want an Old English Bulldog then get a real one) pit bulls that are not pure bred, but are bred merely from bigger is better mentality. They are ruining a wonderful and courageous breed and should be called something else for they are not pit bulls any longer. A real APBT should be athletic, structurally sound and poses a solid temperament as they were bred and used for many working aspects and were family pets. If you see a pit bull that has a huge body, head and 4 inch legs that can’t make a trip around the yard let alone the block, think again is it real or hybrid. It is important to educate yourself on a breed you intend to own. So if you are confused on what’s what then ask as many questions from reputable breeders and do your home work.
Breeders of pure bred Red Nose & Black True American Pit Bull Terriers in order to preserve the integrity of what once was.
Please note any APBT kennel that is breeding American Bullies or BULLY and calling them APBT’s are misrepresenting the American Pit Bull Terrier and should not be taken seriously. These are backyard breeders that are destroying the APBT for a buck, they have absolutely no respect for the history, nor do they possess full knowledge of this breed. If you own a Bully call it just that, throw away your UKC/ADBA/AKC registration papers and register your dogs only through the ABKC. Do the right thing and stop lying about what your dog is not, be proud and own it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A bully that is.
Keep in mind when you are searching the internet that there are over 2 million Pit Bull websites that call themselves breeders. The majority of these breeders do not have a clue, they think bigger is better and are boasting these 100 plus lb rare blue dogs, I would bet money that they are cross bred with another breed to get that size. Here is a hint blue dogs are not rare! But a real Pit bull over 100lbs is. What is becoming rare is pure bred Pit Bulls at the standard size and weight. Unless breeders are breeding for specific sports such as weight pull. In this day and age there are 4 different types of American Pit Bull Terrier’s and some of questionable heritage make sure you buy a several generations DNA tested dog whatever your type or likes are. I also recommend you do not buy a dog from breeders that have been in this breed less then 15 years, based on breeders I have watched use this breed for their lack of individuality and basic ego boost.
1st: Type: Original American Pit bull Terrier registered with UKC/ADBA brought into this country from Ireland and England in the late 1800′s
2nd: Type: American Staffordshire Terrier which were a few select Pit Bulls crossed over into AKC registry in 1930′s and the name changed, stud books closed until the 1970′s.
3rd: Type: American Pit Bull Terriers bred to American Staffordshire Terrier’s also known as POS (Pit or Staff) registered with UKC/ADBA
4th: Type: Bullies which are bred from various bull dog breeds and the terrier has been left behind, these are no longer considered purebred American Pit Bull Terrier’s, although they have been registered with UKC/ADBA/AKC. It is in my opinion that these MUTATIONS are a fad and when people realize exactly what they are NOT an APBT, and the health issues and short life spans that come with these dogs, they will stop breeding and buying them.
Some text is from this site..
some video of these dogs, If you like them cool, but there not true pitbulls, more like pigbulls..
Its like the old English bulldog, that looked more like a pitbull does 150 years ago until certain kennel clubs turned it from a fit agile dog, to a dog that would die out if there was no humans about, due to not being able to give birth with out a C section, and the problems the dog has with breathing, heart and many other issues that's been inflicted on the breed.
With these "bully breeds" dont let them say there true blood pitbull terriers.

These are real pitbulls,
100% true pitbull "terriers"..
Sorry about the rant, just due to bad breading and press makes me worried that we'll have more injury's or even deaths due to bad breading and owners..
If you ever get a pitbull, ask to see the parents, the bloodlines, socialize the dog with children, family friends including other animals from a puppy and do as much research as possible on the breaders/kennel and breed..
Even adopt one if you can, So many of these dogs are abused shockingly then spend many years in kennels or are put to sleep due to lack of good homes..
Anyway sorry for the rant, just a have a passion for this breed.. Nice one..
